The platform consists of two key user portals: a Manager Portal and a Customer Portal, both of which evolved from the legacy FM Tracks system, which was originally built in 2015. As of 2024, Produce Path comprises three major repositories—Next.js, React Native, and ASP.NET (legacy)—all hosted on AWS infrastructure. Our team has been responsible for extending and improving the platform over the last two years, introducing new APIs and user interfaces. Currently, about 40% of the platform's API routes have been successfully migrated from the legacy system to Next.js, with more planned for future releases. Platform Overview Produce Path is designed to streamline market data collection and interactions between farmers' market managers and their customers. Initially built on the FM Tracks system, Produce Path offers a web & app based manager portals for managing market activities and a customer-facing portals for interacting with markets and vendors. The Manager Portal allows market managers to handle market data, transactions, and reporting, while the Customer Portal provides an interface for market users to search markets, add items to grocery lists, and subscribe to markets. Produce Path Features Technical Stack Produce Path leverages a range of technologies. The entire platform runs on AWS, using Amplify and EC2 for deployments, alongside RDS for database storage. •Next.js Web Application (Manager and Customer Portal) ◦Stack: Next.js, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, AWS Amplify, Prisma (ORM), tRPC (APIs) ◦Infrastructure: Hosted on AWS Amplify, with shared RDS as the database. Cloudfront and S3 for caching and file storage.
