Separation Confidence
How distinct this entity is from others. Higher means no close matches existed when it was created. Lower means a near-match was rejected just below the 80% threshold — worth reviewing.

Scrap Metal Logistics Portal ( POC )
Prepared For: Keith Latore @ Assured Metals
Prepared By: MorelandConnect
Date: December 17, 2025
1. Executive Summary
Assured Metals manages complex logistics between scrap yards, logistics providers, and
steel mills. Currently, this process relies on manual spreadsheet reconciliation, which is
time -consuming and prone to errors.
While the ultimate goal is a centralized Scrap Logistics Portal, the primary technical risk
lies in data reliability . If the system cannot accurately ingest the variable, "messy"
documentation (handwritten tickets, thermal receipts) from vendors, the portal will create
more work rather than saving it.
Therefore, MorelandConnect proposes a Proof of Concept (POC) to validate the "AI
Extraction Layer" first. This engagement will connect our existing user interface
prototypes to a custom -built AI backend, validating that the system can automatically
ingest, read, and reconcile your documentation with high accuracy before scaling to a full
multi -tenant a pplication.
2. The Solution
We will focus on building the Data Processing Pipeline ("The Engine") and connecting it to
our existing interface prototype ("The Dashboard").
• The AI Engine: We will engineer a custom pipeline to handle the reality of scrap
logistics:
o Normalization: Converting variations like "Easco" and "Easco Brokerage,
Inc" into a single, clean database entity.
o Context Awareness: Distinguishing between "Gross Weight" and "Tare
Weight" based on document layout.

o Handwriting Recognition: Deciphering handwritten weights or corrections
on BOLs.
• The Validator Dashboard: We will utilize the interface we have already prototyped
to visualize this data. This allows you to drag -and -drop batches of PDF tickets and
watch them populate the "Active Loads" table in real -time, ve
